We would like to welcome a new Partner to our team at Rush Hill and Weston Surgery. We are forward-thinking, committed to high quality patient care and would like to support and nurture a new enthusiastic colleague.

Main duties of the job

We have a growing patient list and have 2 sites basedin beautiful Bath, with easy access to Bristol and Somerset.

We are looking for a GP to join our team of 2 partners, and 3 salaried GPs.

We are a friendly and democratic surgery who will try and adapt to accommodate work life balance and encourage personal learning and development.

We are a forward-thinking partnership, keen to be innovative and change the way we work in order to manage the increasing demands with the resources we have in primary care, whilst still maintaining high clinic standards and a holistic approach for our patients.

About us

About us:

  • Purpose built premises at Rush Hill site and a sister practice 2.5 miles away, Weston Surgery
  • Combined patient list size 9117 patients
  • PMS practice using Systmone, Ardens and AccuRx
  • Training practice with strong support for trainees from F2 to ST3
  • 15-minute face to face appointments with no duty surgery but an equitable and supportive distribution of work each day.
  • 3 nurses and 3 HCAs led by our senior nurse practitioner and includes experienced chronic disease nurses
  • Clinical pharmacy team, social prescribers and currently looking to employ a General Practice Assistant, in the next few months.
  • Multi skilled admin team with 2 patient focused care coordinators

  • High QOF achievement and rated Good at last CQC inspection
  • Low visit rate with additional support from our PCN Home Visiting team service which includes 2 paramedics.
  • We provide support for 4 local nursing homes

Clinical responsibilities:

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, video consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and authorising repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.

Providing counselling and health education.

Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Collecting data for audit purposes.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).

Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Assist with the supervision of registrars.

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
