Job summary
Following the successful recruitment of of five Clinical Pharmacists last year, Ely PCN is now ready to recruit a small team of qualified Pharmacy Technicians.
Our Pharmacy Technicians will be valued and supported members of the PCN team, and will work closely with clinicians and Pharmacists from our six GP Practices, helping us continue safe and effective prescribing practice and the obvious benefits that brings to our patients.
We are recruiting two positions initially, with the
post-holders each supporting three Practices.
Supervision, oversight and support will be offered from a
Clinical Pharmacist, and training will be encouraged.
This is a new role for the PCN, and so a unique opportunity
be involved right from the start.
Salary will be up to a maximum of £28,000 per annum (pro rata) depending on experience.
Main duties of the job
You will have an enthusiasm for patient safety, service development, personal development, and are likely to have experience in either a community pharmacy or primary care setting.
Good communication and IT skills will be vital,and you will be qualified and registeredas a Pharmacy Technicianwith the GPhC.
Key tasks include:
- Direct work with patients, including supporting safe medication use, repeat prescription reconciliations, and leading Level 1 medication reviews.
- Liaison with Practice colleagues and partner organisations, including care homes, CCG Medicines Optimisation Teams and local Pharmacies.
- Supporting safe systems of working, including leading audits, communicating safety alerts and formulary changes.
- Supporting delivery of contract requirements, including DES contract and QOF targets.

Primary Care Networks formed in 2019 to support the join-up of Primary Care GP services in local clusters across England.
Ely North PCN and Ely South PCN cover the majority of the East Cambridgeshire region. We work closely with one another and have a joint Board and joint management team. Together we are known as Ely Primary Care Networks.
