Main duties of the job
What Youll Be Doing
As a Healthcare Assistant at Brook Medical Centre, youll support our nursing and clinical teams in delivering hands-on patient care. Your work will be variedfrom helping with health checks and monitoring vital signs to assisting in chronic disease clinics and minor procedures. Youll also play a role in health promotion and patient education, making every day different and rewarding. You'll be fully supported and trained to carry out tasks within your scope of practice, with opportunities to build new skills as you go.

Main Responsibilities
As part of the clinical support team, the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will assist in the delivery of high-quality patient care by working under the supervision of the nursing team. You will contribute to the care of patients through a variety of clinical and administrative duties, depending on your level of training and competence.
You will:

Perform new patient health checks and long-term condition reviews

Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, weight, and oxygen saturation

Support the clinical team during minor procedures
-
Carry out ECGs, wound care, and routine dressing changes
-
Assist with health promotion and lifestyle advice
-
Undertake venepuncture and administer flu/COVID vaccinations (following training)
-
Support chronic disease management clinics
-
Act as a chaperone when required
-
Ensure clinical areas are clean, stocked, and safe
-
Handle specimens and documentation appropriately
-
Maintain accurate patient records using EMIS clinical system
