Job summary

We are looking for an organised and dynamic Assistant Practice Manager to assist in the day-to-day running of the Practice, supporting the Business Manager and acting as a key point of contact for enquiries from team members and patients as appropriate.

The individual will ideally have a primary care / general practice background and strong IT skills. The post includes some management responsibilities and senior administrator, task-based work.

Part time position - minimum 20 hours per week. Applications via CV with covering letter.

Main duties of the job

Make financial claims via on line submissions as required.

Sele is a long-established NHS GP practice based in central Hexham, providing a wide range of medical services within friendly, comfortable and modern purpose-built premises in the Hexham Primary Care Centre.

Planning & Organising

Assist Business Manager / Clinical/ Admin staff in the development of overall business plans and workstreams in relation to day to day operations and to specific projects.

For example the flu campaign

Take minutes for clinical, significant event and business meetings.

Responsibility for Policy Development

Liaise with Business Manager to develop/maintain policies and protocols for own and end users work, particularly clinical protocols with associated audit.

Human Resources

Provide training as identified via induction and appraisal for team members

Financial and Physical Resources

Oversee supply stocks for clinical / administrative teams, including drug stock levels and ordering.

Carry out day to day budget management duties, initially with Business Manager, including administering payroll, NHS Pension scheme, accounts packages and monthly PPA claims.

Information resources

Use and develop a wide range of IT applications as required

Responsible for data entry, storage and back up of secure data, regular requirement to develop / create reports / searches / documents / protocols etc.

Continue to develop paper light practices.

Freedom to Act

Works autonomously within own area and may develop procedures / protocols for identified projects with GPs / Clinicians / Administration staff.

Special Requirements of the Post

An ability to self motivate, organise and prioritise own workload.

An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality and to be able to convey the need for this to other staff.
