Job summary
The Reception and
Telephonist teams are integral to our Practice. They are our first point of
call for our patients and process queries via the telephone, face to face or
email.
You will have a
varied role as you will act as the hub for all staff in the Practice, patients
and attached staff.

will be able to work under pressure, enjoy challenges and be flexible.
Main duties of the job
Welcome patients upon arrival in a courteous,
friendly and efficient manner
Answer general enquiries, explaining surgery
procedures/protocols, making new and follow up appointments and receiving and
attending to requests for repeat prescriptions when required
Assist patients to complete necessary forms and
documentation
Register patients according to practice protocol
Extract patient notes according to secretarial
instructions
Deal with incoming and outgoing post
Deal with daily tasks and emails
Maintain stock and office supplies
Wherever possible, answer the telephone within 4
rings
Receive and record requests for home visits and make
sure the correct details are recorded
Book patient transport when needed
Receive messages for attached staff and in-house
staff and make sure they are passed to them as soon as possible
File and extract records in alphabetical order
Keep the waiting area and reception clean and tidy
At the end of your working day, make sure that any
existing problems are passed on to a colleague so that they can be dealt with
Have a good working knowledge of System One
Undertaking any duties, within your remit, as may be
determined from time to time you may be asked to do
Work flexibly to support the needs of the practice
About us
Woodstock Bower
Surgery has 5 GPs, 2 ANPS and a large team of nursing staff. We also have a
wide variety of administrative support.
The Doctors and
staff at the surgery are proud to offer the highest standard of patient care.
We run a number of
clinics, including Chronic Disease Management, childhood vaccinations, travel
clinics and have access to many other services.
We offer a full
support package with NHS benefits. A knowledge of System One would be desirable
