Job summary

We are looking to expand the Nursing team and have an exciting opportuning for a practice nurse to join our practice team. You will ideally have experience of working in a GP practice setting, be registered with the NMC and have used EMIS, but applicants with experience in other settings will be considered.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include but not exhaustive:

Adult immunisation.

Scheduled and unscheduled childhood immunisations.

Chronic Disease Management Asthma, COPD, Diabetes.

Health Promotion.

Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment including refrigeration and emergency equipment.

To provide care in line with NICE guidelines.

Communicate effectively with patients and carers.

Norfolk Street Surgery is located in Shelton and provides care to over 19,000 patients. We are a friendly and supportive 3 partner practice with a multi-professional team including GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Physician Associates. We are a training practice and provide training to GP Registrars, Foundation Trainees, Medical Students and Physician Associates.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Duties will include but not exhaustive:

Adult immunisation.

Scheduled and unscheduled childhood immunisations.

Cervical smears and swabs.

Chronic Disease Management Asthma, COPD, Diabetes.

Health Promotion.

Measuring blood pressure.

Contraception.

Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment including refrigeration and emergency equipment.

To provide care in line with NICE guidelines.

To contribute towards clinical targets included in QOF and QIF.

Communicate effectively with other team members.

Work effectively with the nursing team to providing quality nursing.

Communicate effectively with patients and carers.

Educational:

Participate in continued education and maintain an up to date level of professional knowledge and skills.

Identify personal development and training needs with the manager.

Support the junior staff and assess their competency against set standards.

Recording Information

Record information and activities undertaken with patients and carers in an accurate and timely fashion using EMIS.

Maintain confidentially of information relating to patients, carers, relatives, staff and the practice.

Take the required precautions when providing information including following GPDR.

Health and Safety:

The post-holder will help to promote and maintain their own and others health, safety and security.

Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintain work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards.

Reporting potential risks that are identified.

Undertake infection control training.
