Job summary
We are looking
to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join our well established reception team for 24 hours a week, ideally over four days.
You are the first voice patients hear and the first face they see when they visit the surgery.
We pride ourselves on our consistent professional, compassionate and caring attitude towards all patients and visitors to the practice.
Main duties of the job
The Care Navigator role is very busy; requiring skilful communication, triage and prioritisation skills.
You will assist and support patients to access the
appropriate service or healthcare professional, manage day to day queries, medication requests and scanning. Patient contact may be in person, by phone or on-line and you need to be proficient at navigating all these systems.
The role also involves providing general assistance to the whole practice team to provide effective patient care.
About us
We are a friendly family practice and have been looking after our local population for over 90 years.
Our clinical team at Newburn Surgery includes six GPs, two Practice Nurses and two Health Care Assistants.
The practice is managed by a Practice Manager and a Deputy Practice Manager
We are a teaching practice training medical students, doctors and nurses.
We are a member of the Newcastle Outer West Primary Care Network.
We use SystmOne as our clinical system.

Accepting and checking new patient registration forms.

Scanning documents
Deal with practice incoming and outgoing post.
Monitoring emails sent into the practice and actioning
appropriately.
Actioning all patient tasks in a timely manner according to
urgency and due date.
Provide cover during reception staff absences and annual leave.
Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
Opening and closing the practice in line with procedures as
per the duty rota.
