Job summary
West Rainton Surgery is an NHS GP Practice with a population of around 6,000.
We are looking for a full time GP receptionist to join our wonderful team. We are flexible in the role to be an apprenticeship or an experienced receptionist, the post is open for all to apply.
Main duties of the job
Greeting & Directing patients and other
visitors within the surgery
Checking in patients using electronic system
Making appointments
Ensure that patients without an
appointment but need urgent consultations are seen in accordance with the
practice policy.
Accepting and handling specimens
Dealing with requests for home visits
Registering new patients, temporary patients,
emergency patients and those requiring immediate treatment
Keeping the room availability book up
to date
Telephone Duties
Making
appointments
Giving out
test results
Dealing
with requests for visits and recording them on the computer
Telephoning
other agencies as needed
Ordering of
ambulances in an emergency
General
Filing of Medical Records
Opening and processing the post
Contacting patients who need to be seen regarding test results, hospital letters
or for a medication review.
Entering patient information on to the computer
Keeping waiting room and reception tidy, ensure
that a stock of patient leaflets etc are always available.
Showing a
pleasant and cheerful manner to patients at all times
Ensure total confidentiality, adhering to the NHS Code of Confidentiality that
no information about patients, either medical or personal is disclosed to
persons other than those employed by or attached to the practice for whom such
information is relevant.
Such other duties as requested by the Practice Manager or as agreed with
