Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen here at The Junction Surgery for a part-time Practice Nurse or Nurse associate to work with us at our friendly two-site Surgery. We are looking for a candidate full of enthusiasm to join our nursing team currently consisting of one Practice Nurse, one advanced nurse practitioner , one HCA and two Phlebotomists. The role will be varied and cover all aspects of Practice Nursing.
We are a Surgery dedicated to patient-centred care and making a positive difference in our community.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Practice Nurse / Nurse associate who is friendly and enthusiastic to provide a high quality of care to our patients. We value professionalism, commitment, compassion, flexibility and passion within your chosen vocation. The scope of the role will include chronic disease management, childhood immunizations, cytology, smears, vaccinations ,Asthma, Spirometry, COPD, phlebotomy , Bp managment etc. This role will also include an oversight in Infection Control.
A successful candidate would work well within the healthcare team , have good IT knowledge and organizational skills ,including effective time management .
The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of working in a Gp practice and be experienced in all of the above .
About us
We are a friendly and committed family practice comprising of 2 GP partners, 3 Salaried GPs, an excellent nursing team of Practice Nurses and Health Care
Assistants, and a supportive and experienced administration team.We are also a training practice for foundation doctors and one Gp speciality trainee We are always delighted to welcome a new member to the team.
We are a two-site practice in Middleton, Manchester with a
patient list of just over 8000 patients. Our staff split their time between
both sites, situated just a few minutes apart. We use EMIS Web as our clinical system, with Docman 10 used for
document management and back office tools.

- Swabs, specimens, bloods, blood pressures
- Keeping accurate and detailed health records
- Involvement in QOF achievement
- Involvement in the MDT of the Surgery
This role may develop to include:
- Lead in Infection Control Management
- Provide support and advice for Junior members of nursing team
This post holder will also uphold the Surgeries protocols and policies, carrying out their role with compassion and professionalism.
This role will support the wider team with:
- Clinical audits
- Safeguarding concerns
- Support and participate in shared learning over the Practice
- Support for GPs in patient care
- Ability to review clinical practices and respond to national policies and initiatives where necessary
- Participate in local initiatives in order to enhance local patient care where necessary
- Monitoring of safe storage, rotation and disposal of medications.
