Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Health Care Assistant to join our clinical team at The Saltaire & Windhill Medical Partnership. Ideally you will be qualified and experienced in delivering phlebotomy, long term condition reviews, wound care and assisting with minor surgery and contraceptive procedures. We will consider applications for full time or part time hours.

Main duties of the job

ECG Recording, Phlebotomy, LTC reviews, assisting with diabetes clinics, injections under PSD, vaccine clinics, testing of urine samples as requested by clinicians, diabetic foot checks, NHS Health Checks, asthma reviews (subject to training, Wound Care, BP checks, chaperoning duties, processing and management of lab samples requested by GPs and Nurses, Vaccine and cold chain storage, monitoring and recording, stock control and stocking rooms, assisting with minor surgery and contraceptive services, administration as necessary.

The Saltaire & Windhill Medical Partnership is a four site practice based in Saltaire, Shipley, Baildon and Cottingley. We have over a 100 staff providing patient services to a patient population of 24,500.

Job Summary

To support the practice team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within specific practice guidelines and protocols. The health care assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

Main Responsibilities:

ECG recording

Phlebotomy

Spirometry subject to training

Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations and contraceptive procedures

Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual

Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

Manage, review and identify learning from complaints, incidents and near-miss events relating to the practice, team and self.

Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and guidelines for self and others, by acting or alerting management team if the practice appears to contravene policy, or if there are concerns over any aspect of patient care.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Maintain confidentiality of information, acting within the terms of the Data Protection Act and Caldicott guidance on patient confidentiality at all times.

Maintain an awareness of the Freedom of Information Act.

Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data
