Job summary
The Oak Gables Partnership is a forward
thinking practice. We would welcome a
candidate who has an interest and vision for service development in the ever
evolving NHS. The successful candidate will provide general assistance to the patients of the Practice and visitors to the Practice, and project a positive and friendly image, either in person or by telephone.
We have recently moved into a purpose built medical centre and we now want to expand our team to further develop the Practice.
Main duties of the job
To receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the
appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and
effective way. This will include making appointments, processing prescriptions and assisting patients with problems, queries & resolutions. To work as part of a team in achieving patient and staff satisfaction.
About us
The Practice has 8 GP's and 1 GP trainee.
The nursing team is made up of 1 Practice Nurse, an Assistant Practitioner, a Health Care Assistant and a Phlebotomist.
We have a reception and data team who provide a wealth of knowledge to patients and colleagues.

Administration
- To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
- To work in accordance with written policies and protocols
- Filing and scanning post
- Faxing and photocopying as requested
- Receiving patients into the surgery
- Handling completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking
names and address
- Being able to cover all reception positions as necessary
- The processing of all appointment requests for appointments both
on the day and appointments for the future
- Dealing with patients on the telephone and in person
- Dealing with visit requests and general enquiries coming into the
surgery
- Processing patient arrival at the surgery
- Dealing with specific appointments, i.e. medicals, meetings etc
- The general administration and working of the appointments system
- The clinical system used in the practice is EMIS Web
- You will be dealing with registration of new patients, computer
data entry and medical records
- Processing change of address and patient demographics
- Processing repeat and acute prescriptions in accordance with
practice guidelines and after appropriate training
- Test results and the processing of tasks within the clinical
laboratory reports coming into the practiceThe summarising of patient notes onto the computer, after
appropriate training.

duties expected of the receptionist to ensure the daily smooth running of the
practice at all times.
The applicant must be flexible in their approach to working
patterns, and may be required to work at different times of the day, to cover
holidays and sickness. Notice will be
given of the change of working hours where possible.
