Job summary

We are looking for a confident and resilient individual with excellent communication skills. Individuals should be adaptive, able to understand and respond to the diverse and dynamic nature of the role and will be able to balance the needs of the practice with ever changing challenges of providing health care.

Candidates must be conscientious, confident, pragmatic and eloquent, with the passion, integrity and initiative to drive success. Previous management experience, leadership skills, competency in office IT and effective communication skills at all levels are essential. Supported by dedicated administrative and clinical teams, you will also have the vision, willingness and drive to adapt to NHS targets and changes within a profitable, supportive and efficient working environment. The successful applicant will be expected to meet the English language fluency requirements as outlined in the Immigration Act 2016.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward thinking, business minded Practice delivering GMS and enhanced services across a variety of sites in South Wales. We are innovative thinkers and encourage development of new services and projects with the ultimate aim of providing excellent patient care to a diverse patient population. Our team consists of 6 GP Partners, Salaried GPs, ANPS, APP, Pharmacists, PA, Practice Nurses and HCAs. We have a professional, fully trained, friendly admin team who support the clinical team in signposting patient calls. We have a Cluster weekly MDT and provide many enhanced services - special interests are encouraged. We are involved in the teaching of F1 doctors, 5th year medical students with an aim to be part of Registrar training and also in the training of Physicians Associate students.

Job responsibilities

Provide leadership and management skills to enable the practice to meet its agreed aims and objectives within a profitable, efficient, safe and effective working environment.• Keep abreast of current affairs and identify potential threats and opportunities

• Contribute to practice strategy; formulate objectives and research and develop ideas for future practice development

• Monitor and evaluate performance of the practice team against objectives; identify and manage change

• Develop and maintain effective communication both within the practice and with relevant outside agencies

• Retain responsibility for all areas of workload, regardless of delegation of tasks

• Be responsible for the managerial lead for QP/Cluster performance

• Manage the administrative staff and non-clinical management of nursing staff providing a general personnel management service

• Ensure that all staff are legally and gainfully employed. Monitor skill-mix and deployment of staff

• Manage staffing levels within target budgets

• Evaluate, organize and oversee staff induction and training and ensure that all staff are adequately trained to fulfil their role

• Develop and implement effective staff appraisal and monitoring systems

• Support and mentor staff, both as individuals and as team members

• Implement effective systems for the resolution of disputes and grievances

• Keep abreast of changes in employment legislation

• Maintain up-to-date HR documentation (including job descriptions, employment contracts, PIN numbers, insurance details, employment policies)

• Ensure that Practice premises are properly maintained and cleaned and that adequate fire prevention and security systems are in place including regular training and drills

• Review Health & Safety policies and procedures and keep abreast of current legislation• Ensure service development and delivery is in accordance with local and national guidelines

• Ensure that the practice complies with NHS contractual obligations in relation to patient care

• Oversee and organise surgery timetables, duty rotas and holiday cover
