Job summary
A HCA vacancy (full time, or 0.8fte for the right candidate) has arisen within Ilkley & Wharfedale Medical Practice and the successful candidate will work alongside our Practice Nurse to provide quality healthcare services to our patients.
The post holder's responsibilities will be varied and include
general nursing tasks such as patient health checks, vaccinations and injection
(if qualified to do so), urine analysis, ECGs, BP readings and phlebotomy. You
will also be expected to ensure all clinical rooms and equipment are fully
stocked.
You will work within a team of Healthcare professionals to
assist in the assessment and monitor patient health and promote health and
wellbeing.
For this position you need to have a full clean driving licence
with access to a car for domiciliary bloods.
Main duties of the job
This varied role includes but is not limited to:
- Nursing duties such as new patient registration checks, wound
care, phlebotomy, pathology requests, vaccinations, BP monitoring, ECG
recording, spirometry, urinalysis, health checks and monitoring, chaperoning
and assist our GPs with womens health clinics
- Administrative and professional duties such as processing and
management of laboratory samples, monitoring and recording vaccine/cold chain
storage, ensuring all patient data is accurate, legible and up to date and that
all administrative tasks relating to a patient care are completed to a high
standard
- Practice duties such as ensuring all clinical rooms are fully
stocked with the appropriate medical equipment and supplies, engaging and
contributing to team/practice meetings and being professional towards patients
and colleagues to ensure a good working environment
- Be responsible for upholding practice policies and standards
by adhering to all confidentiality, quality, health and safety, equality and
diversity guidelines
- Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post

of competence.
- Give accurate and appropriate information to patients within own
competence.

- Plan, develop and implement ways of raising and promoting awareness
of health and well-being, keeping records of what has been done.
