We are a dynamic GP surgery under new management since January 2022. We are forward thinking and work across three sites, two of which operate dispensaries for our local population.
General practice is busy and can be stressful and therefore team morale and a positive, supportive, well organised working environment is top of the things we aim to provide for our nurses.

So what are we looking for? We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician who wants to come in, treat the patients well, engage positively with staff and join us in our drive to be a well run practice delivering positive outcomes for our patients.

Main duties of the job
The
post holder is a Pharmacy Technician and
is an integral part of the general practice team, working within their
professional boundaries in each practice.
This
role will work under the supervision of the clinical pharmacist to ensure the
safe, accurate and timely supply of prescribed medication to patients.
They
will provide technical and administrative support to the clinical pharmacist
and clinicians.
The
pharmacy technician will support
the practice clinical teams with queries around medication from patients.
The
pharmacy technician will
complete audits around patient safety in the prescribing of medication and
present the information for sharing with the clinical team.
About us
We are 40 minutes from the coast and a short drive from the South Downs and Ashdown Forest. Former Practice Manager of the Year Charlotte Luck joined our team as Practice Director in January 2022. She is committed to developing the surgery and it's team.
We look after approximately 16,000patients. We have three partners, 6 salaried doctors, 6 nurses, 4 HCAs, 3 paramedics and a phlebotomist. Our main site is situated at Buxted and we have two branch surgeries based in Horam and East Hoathly.
We have an in-house First Contact Physio, Mental Health Coordinator and Social Care Navigator We also have the assistance of a pharmacist and pharmacy technician who support us with things such as drug monitoring and medication reviews.
We are a training and dispensing practice and a member of the Greater Wealden PCN (Primary Care Network), which is a part of The Sussex Integrated Care Board.
We are a team of 90 individuals.

Job responsibilities
The
Pharmacy Technician is to undertake the following key responsibilities in
delivering health services.
Undertake medicines reconciliation in
accordance to practice protocols and to update patients medical records / prescribing
accordingly
To support the achievement of the practices prescribing
Quality and Outcomes Framework targets
Working with the pharmacy and dispensary teams
to contribute to the review and development of repeat prescribing protocols / standard
operating procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of repeat prescribing
systems
Assisting
the pharmacy and dispensary teams with dispensing / accuracy checking if required
To provide advice to GPs, staff and patients in
changes to prescribing to support he improvement of prescribing safety, quality
and cost effectiveness
To help lead the antimicrobial stewardship, making
an active effort to measure and improve how antibiotics are prescribed by clinicians
and used by patients
To
participate in medication audits
To assist in the appropriate monitoring and
management of prescribing budgets and to liaise with the medicines management team
at the ICB
To
prepare evidence based resources and information to support the implementation of
rational cost-effective prescribing
To support the Clinical Pharmacist and GP Partners
in providing medication reviews, patient information leaflets and medicines awareness
within own competence and referring when appropriate
To take a proactive approach to the safe handling
of prescriptions, including assessment of risk and making recommendations for improvement
To
respond to medication and prescription queries from patients and staff in a professional
manner, referring to the appropriate clinician in accordance
to practice protocols
To
advise on the sourcing and safe management of medicines as appropriate
Acknowledging MHRA safety alerts by performing system
searches and responding accordingly
