3 partner owned practice with a dispensary and 2 sites. We cover a large area of Tunbridge wells with our site one the East and West boundaries of the area.

Looking for a General practitioner to cover 6 sessions on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit an experienced GP to cover 6 sessions on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Practice is geographically divided across Tunbridge Wells at Greggs Wood Road and in the village of Speldhurst.

We provide general medical services for approximately 9,500 patients living in the Speldhurst/ Southborough/ Langton Green /Rusthall/ Tunbridge Wells area. The Speldhurst surgery is located in an idyllic countryside setting.

The clinical systems are Emis Web, Docman 10, Accurx, Anima and Doris

We can offer a competitive salary, NHS pension, Indemnity costs cover and 6 weeks annual leave pro rata.

About us

The practice comprises of 3 partner GPs who work 6 sessions per week each and 4 Salaried Gps. The wider team include a paramedic, HCA, 2 nurses, Dispensers, Admin team, large reception team and practice manager Mandy Cole which all cover the both sites.

We are a training practice and take in GP trainees and FY2s. We also encourage further training in our own staff and currently our paramedic is starting a prescribing course.

We work very closely with the local surgeries and are part of the Tunbridge Wells PCN. Through the PCN we employ ARRS roles including, Clinical pharmacist, paramedics, Mental health navigators and First contact physiotherapists from the local MSK team.

Job responsibilities

Job summary:

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Clinical responsibilities:

  • In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Collecting data for audit purposes
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
  • In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
