Job summary

Fairfield Park Health Centre are looking to welcome a 4 session Salaried GP to join our excellent team, ideally working all day Monday and Wednesday (negotiable).

We are a busy teaching practice with a well-established patient list but understand the need to manage workload to establish a work/life balance for our team. Currently we have 4 Partners and 6 salaried GPs and are located in a purpose-built surgery on the north side of Bath. We have a wide multidisciplinary team, which includes: ANPs, Nurses, HCAs, Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technicians, Physio & First Contact Physio and Social Prescriber. The team are all located on site.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will manage a patient caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring a high standard of care for all our patients. In accordance with our practice rota (as agreed), the post holder will undertake a variety of duties, including face-to-face and telephone consultations, same day walk in and wait appointments, checking/signing repeat prescriptions and pro-rata duty doctor responsibility.

Our surgeries are a combination of either routine pre-booked or same day appointments and the format is a combination of telephone and face-to-face contacts.

We have a low home visiting rate as we have excellent support from our PCN Paramedic, and you will have opportunity for peer support at our regular clinical and non-clinical lunchtime meetings.

Fairfield Park Health Centre is a well-established, partner-owned, training practice located in a purpose-built surgery on the north side of Bath, with beautiful views across the city, caring for a population of 14,400 patients, including the students at Bath Spa University.

We are part of the Bath Independent Primary Care Network, which gives us the opportunity to grow services across the 3 Practices and offers the opportunity of working together on initiatives with the support of the PCN Manager.

  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
  • Providing counselling and health education.
