Job summary
FPHC is a large general practice located in a purpose built surgery on the north side of Bath. We are a long-established teaching practice who are served by 4 Partners, 6 salaried GPs and a supporting team of managers, nursing, reception and admin staff. We are looking for a GP to work on Monday and Friday (4 sessions) for 2-3 months possibly longer.
We pride ourselves on being a modern general practice whilst retaining traditional values.
The medical staff are superbly helped by the rest of the primary care team:
On the day team Nurse Practitioners
Nursing & HCA team including an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, chronic disease management, treatment room, wound care, ECGs and venepuncture.
Admin and reception & prescription clerks
Main duties of the job
- The post-holder will have a variety of duties, including F2F/video/'phone consultations, home visits, checking/authorising repeat prescriptions and dealing with paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients, in line with current practice disease management protocols.
- Admitting or discharging patients to/from the caseload, referring as appropriate.
- Recording clear, contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
