MEDICINE MANAGEMENT TEAM ASSISTANT

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic
and motivated Medicine Management Team Assistant (s) for 37.5 hours per week (job share considered) to join our forward-thinking Practice.
The successful
candidate will work within our multidisciplinary Medicines Management Team to
provide an efficient, helpful and courteous prescription service to all
patients within the Practice, ensuring that their needs are met.
We provide
quality patient care in a welcoming and supportive environment. Excellent communication, customer care and
flexibility to cover holidays is essential, as is a friendly personality.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will process medication requests and queries in a safe, efficient and effective way for the patients at Downend Health Group.
The successful applicant will have excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills and be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Downend Health Group was formed in 2018 due to the merger of two well established practices located in the suburbs of Bristol. The surgery operates from two purpose-built premises located less than a mile apart.
As one of the largest teaching GP Practices in Bristol, Downend Health Group (DHG) cares for over 27,000 patients and this number continues to rise each year.
This excellent facility offers patients a family friendly service with efficient and easy access to a highly trained team of health care professionals. The medical team comprises 11 Partner GPs, 10 Salaried GPs, 4 Clinical Pharmacists, 4 Paramedics and a dedicated team of Nurses and Healthcare Assistants. We are supported by our experienced Care Co-ordinator Team, Medicines Management Team, Administration Team and fantastic Reception Team who provide excellent support both front of house and behind the scenes.
The surgery provides modern healthcare services and both buildings offer calm, welcoming environment for patients, with enhanced and pleasant working conditions for clinicians and staff.
We use EMIS Web and electronic prescribing. We also use Docman scanning software to allow efficient scanning and letter management across both sites.
For Medicines Management Team Assistants the annual leave entitlement is 25 days per annum, plus bank holidays, pro-rata. Pay will be discussed at interview.

Main
Duties and Responsibilities of the post
The post-holder will work within the
multidisciplinary Medicines Management Team to process medication requests and
queries in a safe, efficient and effective way.
A)
Core
Responsibilities
- Liaising with the Medicines Team
Manager concerning organisation of work;
- Reviewing and processing repeat
prescription requests, closely following protocols;
- Developing a sound knowledge of the
electronic prescribing services for the practice;
- Dealing appropriately with medicine
queries from patients/pharmacists/care homes;
- Responsible for adding new
medicines from discharge summaries and outpatient clinic letters;
- Issuing prescriptions for blister
packs, dossette boxes, appliance items;
- Supporting the clinical prescribers
in the organisation of medication reviews, blood test monitoring, blood
pressure recording etc;
B)
Practice
Organisation
To ensure a high
standard of practice and care at, all times:
- The involvement in planning,
co-ordinating and monitoring of team activities to ensure efficient
services to patients and support to clinical staff;
- Participation in the development
and implementation of new policies, procedures and protocols to improve
practice organisation and the provision of services to patients;
Ensuring
high levels of attention to detail and accuracy with regards to completion of
all necessary documentation associated with the role;
Maintaining
effective liaison with other staff and/or agencies concerned with patient care,
and with all other disciplines within the practice, with appropriate regard to
confidentiality;
Working
cooperatively within teams and respect the skills, expertise and contributions
of your colleagues;
- Implementing effective
communication and co-operation between doctors, staff and other members of
the Primary Healthcare Team;
- The collection of data, preparation
of reports and undertaking research as required;
- The efficient use and progressive
development of IT to maximise its potential and support in practice
activity;
- Ensuring the rules of GDPR,
Caldicott, Freedom of Information Act and those issued by the NHS and CCG
are understood and fully implemented;
- Supporting in the planning and
co-ordination of practice targets including work streams such as Quality
and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Enhanced Services, Care Quality Commission
(CQC) etc;
