Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities
- Deliver a full range of primary care services including:
- Face-to-face consultations
- Telephone and online consultations (AccuRx triage system)
- Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions
- Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate
- Prescribe safely and effectively in line with local and national guidance
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records using EMIS Web
- Participate in safeguarding for children and vulnerable adults
Duty Doctor (DOC) Responsibilities
- Participate in the rotational Duty Doctor (DOC) rota
- Manage same-day triage and urgent clinical demand on allocated DOC days
- Provide clinical advice and support to the wider team during DOC sessions
- Escalate concerns appropriately to senior clinicians where required
Nursing Home / Ward Round Responsibilities
- Participate in a shared rota for nursing home/ward round reviews
- Support continuity of care for vulnerable and housebound patients
- Work collaboratively with the wider MDT to coordinate care

- GP Partners and salaried GPs
- ANP, nurses, HCAs
- PCN staff (pharmacists, paramedics, social prescribers, physiotherapist)
- Administrative and reception teams
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture
- Provide informal mentoring or support to colleagues where appropriate
- Participate in practice and clinical meetings
Practice Development
- Contribute to service improvement and innovation
- Engage in demand and capacity management work
- Support improvements in patient access and continuity
- Contribute to practice objectives and PCN priorities
Training & Development
- Maintain full GMC registration and revalidation
- Participate in annual appraisal
- Undertake mandatory training
- Engage in CPD and professional development
