Magna Group Practice require an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Assistant to join our busy friendly team.
The ideal candidate should be able to work well in a team and demonstrate the ability to be proactive in developing the practice.
Main duties of the job
Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role are detailed below:
- BP Monitoring .
- Urinalysis .
- Phlebotomy.
- Diabetic foot checks/Podiatrist referrals.
- Weight Monitoring.
- Family history and social history recorded.
- Provide lifestyle advice to patients making necessary referrals to other clinicians i.e. diet, exercise, smoking alcohol etc.
- Chaperone when required.
- Monthly checks on clinical room bags as per the tick list.
- Maintaining equipment used by HCA and Practice nurses.
- Ensure sharp's bins are ready for collection.
- Ensure specimens are correctly labelled and bagged ready for collection.
- Seasonal information is readily available for patients.
- INR checks.
- Ear irrigation.
- ECG's.
- Administration duties, audits, patient recalls, BP averaging.
The HCA will be instructed and supported by the lead Nurse on clinical matters and training.

Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths.
- Healthcare Assistant qualification or relevant experience.
Desirable
- Qualified in Phlebotomy
- Qualified to NVQ level 2/3 in Health and Social Care.
Experience

- Demonstrable experience of working in or towards a role of Health Care or Nursing Assistant with competence in basic duties required of the post.
- Experience in dealing with the public/patients.
- Excellent Communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience of working in Primary Care or GP Practice
- Experience of Systm1 clinical system
- Experience of Microsoft Office software
