The main duties of the role

Practice Nurses assess, screen, treat and educate all sections of the community, from babies to older people. The successful candidate will provide nursing care to patients in a Primary care setting, supported by a team of experienced GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Specialist Nurses and Practice Nurses.

What we look for in your application

It is not essential (desirable only) for the successful candidate to have a proven background in a General Practice setting;

  • Desirable: Specialist interest / experience in respiratory and minor ailments
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and listening skills, so you can work with people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate patience and empathy, so you can gain the trust of patients with a variety of health issues.
  • Registered General Nurse. Experience of chronic disease management, cervical screening, travel vaccinations, child immunisations (or a mixture of) preferred but not essential.
  • Hold a Full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle to travel between surgeries and other health care settings as appropriate.

Location: Our intention is always for the Nurse to have two primary surgeries at which they are based for continuity of patient care and your surgery team, although we have nine surgeries across York, all of which you may be required to work from.

Hours: Open to discussion (Full or Part time Negotiable)

Pay: Competitive. Dependent upon the strength of the candidate + including NHS pension scheme

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1. Registered General Nurse and ongoing membership with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) by ensuring you keep their professional skills and knowledge up to date and uphold professional standards
  • 2. Valid UK driving license to have available use of a personal car with appropriate insurance covering its use for business purposes to ensure you are able to fulfil the requirements of this post

  • Experience of chronic disease management, cervical screening, travel vaccinations, child immunisations (or a mixture of) preferred but not essential.
