Job summary
The
Medicine Coordinators main role is to process prescription requests received
from patients and pharmacies. These arrive in the form of paper requests,
online requests and e-mails. They take calls from patients and pharmacies for
prescription queries and assist in processing clinical documents where
appropriate.
This will be under the daily direction of the Pharmacy Service Supervisor on an
operational basis with the aim of providing comprehensive support to the
multidisciplinary team at the Pharmacy Service Hub and the best possible
service to the patients. Due to the current organisational set-up the overall strategic
line management will be via the Operational Supervisor at Knowle House Surgery.
Allocated duties will vary on a daily basis depending on current and evolving
workloads, targets, skills mix and staffing levels. Provide general assistance
to the practice or PCN team and project a positive and friendly image to
patients and other visitors in person, by phone or via electronic means.
Main duties of the job
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by the
postholder are broadly described below. The division of daily work between
these areas will constantly change and the postholder will be expected to cover
and maintain skills in all these areas and any other areas that develop
relevant to the role and at an appropriate level.
Phones: Processing any prescription queries from
patients and other callers in a very busy and often pressurised environment. Making
calls to patients, clinicians and pharmacies to disseminate or request information
and similar tasks.
Administration:
Processing
incoming documents and tasks whether on paper or electronical in line with Hub operating
procedures. This covers a very wide and continually changing range with the
growing majority now dealt with using a variety of clinical or other IT
systems.
Support work: Any other administrative or patient facing work
that maybe required to support clinicians, managers or other staff as and when
required. This may be on a regular or ad hoc basis.
