Job summary
We are looking for someone ideally with experience of working as a HCA within a GP Practice. You must have phlebotomy skills with a minimum of one years experience as an essential skill, if no GP Practice experience we can offer full training.
You will be working alongside our nursing team and our existing highly experienced HCA.
We are a small practice with 6500 patients and 3 partners. For this reason we have limited room space so the hours and days are quite specific. We can have some flexibility if you want more or less hours but initially we are looking at the following:
Monday: ideally all day from 8-6.30pm but you could do less hours if wanted
Tuesday: ideally 3-8pm
Wednesday: 8-12
Friday: 8-12
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role would be to assist the nursing team. You would be expected to carry out the following duties along with additional duties as required by the team:
Phlebotomy
NHS Health checks
Flu injections
ECG
BP/weight
Diabetes foot checks

We are a small friendly surgery in North Camp Farnborough with 6500 patients. We have a rapidly increasing patient list which is why we are looking for another HCA to join the team.
We have 3 female partners and have a very good team spirit amongst the staff.

The postholder will work as a member of the Health Care Team offering directed treatments to meet the needs of patients under indirect supervision of the Registered Practice Nurse and or General Practitioner.

To run health promotion and disease related clinics under the supervision of the Practice Nurse.
Ensure that the care given meets the requirements of local and national guidelines, policies and standards including the Quality Outcome Framework (QoF)
Respond to medical emergencies, incidents and accidents, as directed and as competent to do so. Is
Trained in Basic Life Support.
To undertake initial health assessments at reception and highlight concerns to Nurse or GP on duty.
To be responsible for the ordering of repeat medication as prescribed by the GP, safe keeping and processes for the storing of all medicines/drugs according to NMC standards and North East Hampshire CCG.
To ensure that all daily records for fridge temperature, key safe log, emergency drug box and cupboard are checked within the correct timescales and any anomalies are reported to the Medical Director in absence of the Practice Nurse.
Maintain Cold Chain procedures
Provide information, advice and support to patients face to face and via the telephone.
Promote & participate in maintaining a safe comfortable & therapeutic environment.
Involved in team discussions to ensure best practice
To participate in outreach clinics providing healthcare and lifestyle advice to hard-to-reach groups
To work with the ethos of North Camp Surgery with the aim of achieving the key Performance Indicators required by CCG.
Use appropriate infection control procedures and maintain work areas in each clinical room so that they are clean, safe and free from hazards reporting of any potential risks identified, including:
1. hand washing
2. universal hygiene procedures
3. collection and handling of laboratory specimens
4. segregation and disposal of waste materials
5. decontamination of instruments and clinical equipment
6. reporting and treatment of sharps injuries
7. dealing with blood and body fluid spillages
8. Assist patients and colleagues in adopting sound infection control measures
2) Administration
To maintain accurate records and data on Treatment Room activities in a timely fashion using EMIS clinical system.
To work as an effective team member and promote a multi-agency collaborative approach to health care.
Maintain the established reporting documentation and communication system to ensure efficient evaluation and monitoring.
Report and record all clinical incidents to Practice Manager.
Maintain and ensure the effective use of clinical stock levels
3) Communication
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and other health care partnerships.
To communicate effectively using a variety of communications skills: verbal, & non-verbal, written and electronic, with a range of individuals and organisations within the NHS.
