Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic GP to join our well established and respected medical practice for 4 sessions per week. The successful candidate will be supported by an excellent team of administrative and clinical staff (including GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, Practice Nurse, Phlebotomist and Physiotherapist). This post has been created to support practice expansion due to an increasing patient list size from population growth in the Colindale area.

We invite applications from candidates who display excellent patient-centred and evidence-based care, and who work well in teams to provide holistic care for patients. Both newly qualified and experienced GPs are welcome to apply.

Salary: starting at £10K per session per year, based on experience.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties:

- Clinical consultations to provide medical care to our registered patients. Consultation types include: telephone, video and face-to-face (where appropriate), with very occasional home visits.

- A mixture of daily clinical administrative work and dedicated triage clinics.

- Areas of clinical specialist interest are encouraged

Job responsibilities

Clinical

A Salaried GP will:

  • Provide high quality medical services to patients registered with the practice.
  • Provide a full range of services in line with the requirements of the PMS Contract and Enhanced Services Contracts.
  • Refer patients as appropriate and in accordance with local procedures.
  • Undertake duties such as electronic prescribing, prescribing reviews, telephone advice, queries from team-members.
  • Undertake clinics, post-natal checks, child developmental checks as agreed or required.
  • Manage long-term conditions in accordance with practice and national clinical guidelines.
  • Prescribe generically and in accordance with the practice formulary.
  • Provide appropriate health promotion advice to all patients
  • Ensure good clinical governance is part of patient care and other practice activities.
  • Adhere to practice guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Practice evidence-based medicine.
  • Take ongoing responsibility for patients with difficult and complex problems including consistent follow-through.
  • Process all associated workflow from patient consultations including clinical letters, follow up on results and any follow up tasks
  • Participate in audit and quality improvement processes.

Non clinical

A Salaried GP will:

  • Maintain clinical records (manual/electronic) in line with good practice and in accordance with practice procedures including appropriate coding as agreed in the practice.
  • Maintain administrative records in relation to PMS contract; PCN, National and Local enhanced services contracts, QOF and QI including coding.
  • Work in line with agreed practice procedures and protocols
  • Be available for informal contact with team members, especially other GPs, during and around session times.
  • Attend on a regular basis in house clinical, administrative and educational meetings.
  • Contribute to the practices clinical governance and quality activities including clinical audit.
  • Participate and contribute to child and adult safeguarding meetings
