Job summary
The Spa Medical Practice are looking to recruit an ANP or ACP to join our supportive and innovative team, based in our modern purpose-built medical centre in Droitwich Spa. Worcestershire.
The role is on a part-time basis (up to 20 hours a week); we are looking for an independent prescriber who can work a full day on a Monday and additional hours during the rest of the week ideally someone with experience of working in General Practice or other Primary Care Setting. (Applications will also be considered from non-prescribers who are either training or aspiring to become prescribers).
Main duties of the job
You will be part of the team managing our on the day acute access for our patients, through telephone and face to face consultations working alongside the Duty Doctor of the day, other GP's and the Practice Nurse Team.
Surgeries run through the day essentially split into morning and afternoon sessions.
The practice is obliged to provide a number of enhanced access appointments ; you may be included within this rota.
You will be looking after those with acute illness who feel they need to be seen that day . The role provides an opportunity for patients to see an allied health professional without the need to see a GP enabling prompt care and attention .
You will be autonomous in making decisions on assessment , diagnosis and interpretation of results . Interventions may include prescribing , onward referral to secondary care and general lifestyle advice.
You will have support from the Duty Doctor if you need any advice or guidance.
You may be asked to do home visits if required but on the whole the role is practice based.

Droitwich Spa is a small town about 7 miles from Worcester . It has good motorway and rail links; we look after patients within the town and surrounding countryside.
We are a
friendly team comprising 8 GPs, 2 Clinical Pharmacists, First Contact Physio, 3
Practice Nurses,1 Nurse Associate, 2 HCAs, Pharmacy Technician, Mental Health
Worker and very supportive admin staff.
Every morning,
clinicians meet to work together to support each other for clinical scenarios
and/or managing blood results. In addition, we hold regular MDT meetings to
provide opportunities for learning and development to enhance patient care. You
will be part of the team managing our on the day acute access for our 10800 patients,
through telephone and face to face consultations.
We are also a
training practice for Doctors, Nurses and Medical Students and play an active
role in our Primary Care Network.

Uses highly developed clinical knowledge to independently assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatments and interventions for patients presenting with acute illness.
Undertakes physical examination as indicated by the patients condition; analysing complex clinical signs and investigation results, initiating treatment as required.
Requests investigations such as blood, urine and other laboratory tests, electrocardiographs (ECGs), ultrasound scans, X-Rays in accordance with IR(ME)R regulations and as local policy allows.
Autonomously formulates appropriate management plans for patients, formulates clinical decisions and manages acute illness and acute episodes of chronic illness including onward referral and admission.
Prioritises health problems and intervenes appropriately in complex, urgent and emergency situations, including initiation and leadership of resuscitation.
Prescribes and reviews medication (as an independent prescriber) for therapeutic effectiveness appropriate to patient need and in accordance with best/evidence-based practice and national and local protocols and within the roles scope of practice and legal framework. Integrates both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment in patient care/management plans
Assesses patients with mental health needs if has experience of this.
Communicates effectively with patients, carers, colleagues, and others using appropriate communication styles. Anticipates barriers to communication and ensures patients and significant others are kept fully informed and consent to treatment.
Works in partnership with the practice team in driving development and change.
Produces accurate and complete documentation and patient records consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures.
Possesses excellent time management and personal organisation skills.
Takes responsibility for their own learning and performance including the participation in clinical supervision if needed and maintaining an awareness of relevant research evidence.
Develops health promotion and education in conjunction with other health care professionals ensuring that all patient care within the multi-professional team is based on research and best practice.
Possesses proficient typing, IT and computer skills.
Works with the multi-professional team to further develop appropriate clinical pathways and care approaches. Disseminates their own learning and good practice to other team members.
As part of the team undertakes audits.
