Job summary
We are looking to recruit a positive and conscientious Salaried GP to work 6
sessions a week ideally.
Main duties of the job
To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the PMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
About us
We are a friendly, well established, forward thinking Practice in the
beautiful coastal town of Bournemouth and are a member of the Central
Bournemouth Network. We are a training practice working from two sites, St
Albans Medical Centre and East Way Clinic and received a Good rating in our last CQC inspection.
This is a 11,500 patient practice with four partners, three salaried GPs
and an excellent nursing team.
Our experienced admin/reception team are excellent at workflow
re-direction and patient signposting which reduces the amount of admin work for
GPs.
Both the clinical and supporting staff pull together in this practice to
deliver a great standard of care while enjoying a supportive and friendly
atmosphere.

- Provide
a full range of medical services as defined in the core PMS contract,
additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
- Provide
other general medical services to meet identified patient need.
- Make
professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems
whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare works within the
organisation.
- Assess
the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed
problems.
- Screen
patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Develop
care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with
current practice; disease management protocols, provide counselling and
health education.
- Work
within current CCG policy for prescribing.
- Be
available and accessible to patients at all times as agreed.
- Maximise
the effective use of current clinical computer systems. Record clear and
contemporaneous consultation notes to an agreed standard.
- Compile
and issue computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written
prescriptions whenever possible).
- Undertake
all duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within
primary care. (These duties will include reports/cremation forms. The fees
for this work would be retained within the practice budget).
- To
take part in clinical auditing and data
collection.
- Support
under-graduate student training in the surgery.
- Support
GP registrar training in practice.
- Attend
team meetings and other clinical meetings as necessary.
- Provide
short-term emergency cover for unplanned absence of colleagues.
- Provide emergency on-call
cover for the practice.

involved in developing primary care services to meet the needs of the
practice population.
- Work
in close collaboration with the practice team to ensure that access targets
are reached.
- Support health development
and ensure health promotion work is undertaken to allow the practice
population to make informed choices.
