Wyre Integrated Network PCN are recruiting for a GP Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will join a team consisting of Pharmacists, Pharmacy technicians, Social Prescribers, Care coordinators and Mental Health practitionr supported by a team of GPs all striving to support the needs of the local community.

We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join our innovative PCN Team.

Main duties of the job

  • A GPA will support the GP(s) smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP freeing up their time to focus on the patient.
  • Provide efficient, professional care to patients.
  • Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring according to protocols, advising patients accordingly.
  • Undertake the collection of intravenous blood samples.
  • Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately.
  • To test urine specimens using appropriate equipment and record results.
  • Undertake simple wound care and dressings.
  • Undertake NHS health check clinics
  • Administer flu vaccinations
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate To perform other clinical tasks as trained and agreed to meet the needs of the practice.
  • Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics.
  • Support with health promotion programmes.
  • Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes.
  • Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients.

The General Practice Assistant (GPA) is a new role and provides a unique opportunity to work in the NHS primary care team.

The successful applicant will support the Primary Care Network in day to day running of clinics by performing the more routine tasks on behalf of the GPs in surgeries to deliver excelltnt patient care.
