Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working and flexible person to join our practice team. The role we are currently advertising will consist of around 20 hours per week and will combine both Workflow Administrator and Medical Receptionist duties to create a more robust team with a full overview of administrative tasks within the practice. The days can be negotiated, as new ways of working are being explored within the practice.
We are looking for a team member who has excellent customer service skills and strong attention to detail. You will need to be empathetic, sensitive, caring and professional. Primary Care presents challenges like most of the NHS and being able to display all of this will help in the roles.
Main duties of the job
Workflow
- Processing practice correspondence (paper, electronic and email) attaching it to the patient record
- Clinical coding of diagnoses, procedures and investigations
- Recognising and subsequently forwarding or carrying out actions identified within clinical correspondence
- Receive and make telephone calls
You will identify the complex or higher risk areas that require input or knowledge from the clinical team. This includes safeguarding issues. You will work to the agreed practice protocols.
Reception
- Dealing with general enquiries face-to-face and over the telephone
- Receive, assist, and direct patients and visitors politely, courteously, and efficiently
- Signposting patients to the most suitable health care provider if an appointment at the surgery is not necessary

Aitune Medical Practice is a forward thinking GP surgery consisting of around 9000 patients. Our surgery is led by two GP partners and supported by three salaried GPs. Our nursing team are supportive and keen with a Lead Nurse in position ensuring that our patients receive the best nursing care there is. Our administrative team are experienced and understand the importance of appropriate signposting. We work as a team, supporting one another.
