Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified practice nurse to join our friendly and welcoming team. We are looking for an experienced practice nurse for 30 hours per week over 3 days.

To work within an excellent nursing team comprising a full time senior practice nurse, part time practice nurse and part time assistant practitioner alongside a GP team, various ARRS roles and a supportive reception & administrative team.

This post shall be included within the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme therefore should meet the criteria required for these.

The successful candidate should have an academic level 6 diploma in long term conditions and be undertaking the Fundamentals of General Practice Nursing Programme.

They must also be working at registered nurse level practice as described in the Primary Care and General Practice Nursing Career and Core Capabilities Framework.

Main duties of the job

To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN and in addition any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.

Health & safety:

The post-holder will be involved in a full range of promotion and management their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety policy, the practice Health & Safety manual, and the practice Infection Control policy and published procedures. This will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines
  • Awareness of national standards of infection control and cleanliness and regulatory / contractual / professional requirements, and good practice guidelines
  • Shared responsibility for the correct and safe management of the specimens process including collection, labelling, handling, use of correct and clean containers, storage and transport arrangements
