Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant to our established Nursing Team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policies and procedures.

You will be required to support the practice team in providing high quality primary care services to the patients registered with the Partnership, working in a safe and confident manner and respecting the principles of health, safety, infection control and security at all times.

The successful candidate must also have a full driving licence and own transport, as the ability to move across all three sites in the Partnership is essential.

This role is offered at 36 hours per week, but this can be flexible depending on the candidate.

Main duties of the job

Our Healthcare Assistants undertake a varied role, including:

  • New patient health checks
  • ECG recording
  • Blood pressure recording
  • Height and weight measurement
  • Smoking cessation
  • Chaperoning
  • Room stocking

The nursing team at Castle Partnership are friendly and supportive, and participation at regular team meetings and training sessions is encouraged.

We are a SystmOne practice and some experience with this system would be an advantage.

We are a forward-thinking, dynamic and friendly General Practice which comprises eight GP partners, salaried GPs, GP registrars, highly-skilled nursing staff and an efficient admin team.

We operate from three locations and provide high quality care to over 17,000 patients in Norwich. We are also a teaching practice for medical students and physician associates. We host a number of other services from our Gurney Surgery including a PCN pharmacist and PCN physiotherapy service. We have excellent working relationships with neighbouring practices, working collaboratively as part of the Norwich Primary Care Network.

Job Summary

To assist in patient care and practice related duties working under the direct supervision of the Surgery Doctors/Practice Nurses and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols. The Health Care Assistant will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures.

The Health Care Assistant will be required to support the practice team in providing high quality primary care services to the patients registered with the Practice. The Health Care Assistant needs to practice in a safe and confident manner, respecting the principles of health, safety, infection control and security at all times

The Health Care Assistant will be required to attend all appropriate updates and refresher courses within the timeframes specified for the clinical tasks in question. They will also need the relevant sign off for any new procedures by the relevant competent person. This will take into account any new or amended policies, protocols and procedures relating to any aspect of clinical practice.
