Job summary
We are looking for a permanent full time Medical
Receptionist (37.5 hours per week), to join our team based at The Whitswood
Practice, one of the three GP practices in the Better Health MCR Primary Care
Network.
The postholder will be required to work flexibly and
to provide cover for absence and busy periods.
As part of this, they may be required to work Saturdays from
08:45-17:15. There may also be a
requirement for the postholder to work at our other practices from time to
time.
Salary will be within the range £23,465 to £25,415 (pro rata for part time). We offer up to 6.6 weeks holiday (depending on NHS service) plus bank holidays (pro rata) and optional membership of the NHS Pension Scheme.
Main duties of the job
Our reception team
are the first point of contact for our patients and play an important role in
understanding patients needs, resolving queries, dealing with prescription requests
and either booking an appointment with the most appropriate clinician at the
practice or signposting the patient to a service outside the practice.
Like all GP
practices though, the onset of COVID in 2020 has meant that we have had to make
important changes to the way we provide our services. Most of our contacts with
patients are now done remotely (either by telephone or online), so the number of
patients actually coming into the practice is significantly reduced.
You dont need to
have worked in healthcare before as long as you have excellent people skills, a
good attention to detail and you are willing and eager to learn new skills. We
will provide in-house training and support.
About us
We are Better Health MCR: thinking differently,
breaking barriers, improving lives.
We are a friendly, forward-thinking, not-for-profit
social enterprise providing primary care medical services in Manchester. We
operate from four sites: The Robert Darbishire Practice in Rusholme Health
Centre (which is also head office), Crawford House on Manchester University
campus, The Whitswood Practice in Alexandra Park Health Centre and New Bank
Health Centre in Longsight. In total we have about 44,000 patients.
Our patients are very diverse and include established
communities as well as new communities from all over the world. We have good
links with the University and a sizeable student population.
Our staff team of about 120 people has a great mix of skills and experience. We have exciting plans to expand this team even more, to help us further our mission to improve lives.
