Main duties of the job
We provide a contract in line with the standard BMA Salaried GP Contract.
All our current salaried staff are encouraged and supported in taking on areas of responsibility, to be part of and lead Quality Improvement Programmes and our salaried GPs have the opportunity to serve on the Foundry Executive Board alongside Clinical and Managerial Director roles.
About us
We are Foundry Healthcare Lewes, an inclusive, friendly, and forward thinking single practice PCN of 28,500 patients set in a beautiful area of East Sussex with easy access to Brighton, the Sussex coast and London.
Since the merger of 3 Practices into Foundry two years ago, we have been on a journey of transforming the primary care offer. Our critical mass and vision has enabled us to re-design the way we work including:
· Segmenting our patient population, calibrating our face to face appointments, lengths and timings accordingly;
· Introducing a team of “acute” doctors provide clinical cover to the team of ANPs based at the Urgent Treatment Centre in Lewes.
Working in a truly multi-disciplinary way with our teams of pharmacists, first contact MSK and mental health practitioners and Social Prescribing team
Paramedic who performs the majority of home visits.
Long-term conditions clinics, utilising the skills of our fantastic HCA’s and nurses.
Implemented a streamlining process for pathology results and letters to reduce the number of administrative tasks per day. Our prescription management hub and practice pharmacists deal with the majority of medication queries
We have developed a digital workforce tool for managing capacity and demand

Clinical
responsibilities:

In accordance with the practice
timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to
undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations and emergencies,
telephone consultations and queries, triaging, visiting patients at home,
checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, patient
test results, patient medical reports and examinations (e.g. Insurance
Companies) on behalf of the Practice, referral letters NHS/private, paperwork
and correspondence in a timely manner;

Making professional, autonomous
decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred
from other health care workers within the organisation;
·
Recording clear and contemporaneous
I.T. based consultation notes to agreed standards;
·
Collecting data for audit purposes;
·
Compiling and issuing
computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
·
Prescribing in accordance with
locally agreed or national guidelines.
·
In general the post-holder will be
expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated
with a GP working within primary care.
Other
responsibilities with the Practice:
·
Awareness of and compliance with all
relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data
protection, health and safety, annual QOF Assessment of the Practice.

A commitment to life-long learning
and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice;
·
Keep a portfolio;
·
Contributing to evaluation/audit and
clinical standard setting within the organisation;
·
Contributing to the development of
computer-based patient records;
·
Attending training, Practice
Meetings and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where
appropriate.
·
Conduct at least 4 clinical audits
per year
