North Trafford Group Practice is looking for a Medical Secretary to join our Secretarial Team.
We are large forward thinking practice of 15,000 patients, providing quality healthcare and outcomes for our patients in the North Trafford area. We operate from two sites Chester Road and Seymour Grove.
We are using EMIS Web and DOCMAN as our clinical system along with Ask My GP to provide digital platform to our patients.

Main duties of the job
We are currently looking for a potential candidate who has been working preferably or have previous experience in working as Medical Secretary in health care sector. It is desirable that applicant have relevant skills or experience of working in General practice.
The role is based on administrative and secretarial work which includes tasks, call handling and making referrals to secondary care or other clinical providers, through our clinical system.
The Secretarial team currently comprises of 3 Medical Secretaries. The position would be shared and a proportion of time will be allocated to the role.
Though it is essential that applicant should have knowledge of the above tasks, however training can be provided if applicant requires in any of the above tasks.

Job responsibilities
- Processing referrals through EMIS Tasks, clinical notes, or shorthand notes
- Keep up to date with changes in referral systems
and new proformas by reading e-mails sent to the practice.
- Ensure 2 week wait proformas are dealt with
efficiently and promptly and contain all relevant information. Follow up all proformas ensuring appointments
are made within a 2 week period.
Ensure correct proformas are being used by GPs
and these are saved within the GP proforma directory.
Make best use of the Practice computer system to
ensure good communication and audit standards.
Undertake queries on behalf of patients, trying
to establish their concerns and trying to resolve, keeping the patient informed
at all times.
Preparing insurance, solicitors and patient reports as per required.
Attend meetings within the Practice, take
and transcribe accurate minutes and distribute as required.
