Job summary
Woodhouse Health Centre is looking for a new Health Care Assistant/Nurse Associate to join an experienced team of Nurses and HCAs. The ideal candidate would be dynamic, committed, and capable of maintaining positive relationships within the team. We are looking for someone to work full time, but we would consider part time, depending on the candidate.
Main duties of the job
Your role would be to deliver effective healthcare to our patients, including blood taking, blood pressures, flu and covid vaccines, pill checks, B12 injections and wound care depending on clinical competence.
You would also complete appropriate clinical coding in line with QOF and IIF targets.
About us
Woodhouse Health Centre is one the largest health centres in the south east Sheffield area with around 12,000 patients. We cover a wide area and are an extremely busy Practice with a large amount of vulnerable and elderly patients. We are also a GP training practice.
We have six GP partners, 4 salaried GPs, as well as training GP Registrars and F2 Doctors. With a wider team consisting of Nurses, HCA's, Pharmacists, Paramedics, and a variety of other clinical roles.

Job responsibilities
- To support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population.
- The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion, patient education and assist and maintaining the recording and updating of emergency drugs/supplies.
- Undertake diabetic checks including blood testing, foot checks and health promotion referrals.
- Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes.
- Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately.
- Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required.
- Support the practice nurse manager with the management of chronic disease clinics.
- Carry out BMI checks as directed.
- Act as a chaperone as required.
- When trained, administer flu vaccinations.
- Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation.
- Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
- Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance.
- Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice policy.
