Job summary

Orchard Surgery, Horsham has an exciting opportunity for an experienced prescribing paramedic practitioner or nurse to join our friendly practice team.

The contract will be for a fixed term of 1 year during maternity leave from 2nd October 2023. We require cover for 3 days per week with some flexibility on the exact days.

Rate of pay according to experience, up to £29.66 per hour.

You will be supported by a fantastic multidisciplinary team, comprising GPs, a paramedic practitioner, managers, practice nurses, administrative staff, HCAs, care coordinators and clinical pharmacists. Our reception team are trained Care Navigators.

We have a strong learning environment and will be able to provide mentoring and easily accessible support during your tenure with us, ensuring you progress in your professional development. Our GPs are supportive and approachable for guidance. Some of our care navigators are trained to do ECGs and urine dips, freeing up time for clinical staff.

We have regular clinical and training meetings in the practice, and there are opportunities for leadership and to share learning.

Orchard Surgery is based in the centre of Horsham. Practice parking is available. We are based within a modern, purpose built surgery and are dedicated to providing a high quality service to our patients. We are an innovative friendly practice and we are keen to support our staff wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

The role is to support the duty doctor with on the day bookings, mainly in person for minor illness, with some telephone calls and follow up appointments.

There will be some self generated blood test results to review and file and tasks to respond to from within the organisation.

Home visit requirement is flexible, taking into account how you would like to see patients.

Orchard Surgery is a member of Horsham Central PCN. Our PCN is progressive and keen to develop collaborative working with the community locally. We have strong teams of ARRS roles which greatly contribute to the care we can offer our patients and help reduce the demand on our practice staff. These include PCN paramedics, social prescribers, health and wellbeing coaches and PCN Clinical Pharmacists. We work collaboratively and in partnership with a number of community organisations.

Support and manage health needs of women presenting for family planning or sexual health consultation

Assess, identify and refer patients presenting with mental health needs.

Manage care of patient at End of Life and ensuring palliative care plans are put in place and actioned as necessary
