Job summary
We are a
forward thinking, busy and friendly General Practice based in Guildford,
looking to recruit an enthusiastic person to join our friendly team in the role
of Administrator / Receptionist.
As an Administrator / Receptionist in our practice, you will be the first point of contact for our patients therefore, excellent communication (interpersonal) skills are vital as well as the ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and problem-solving skills, when dealing with difficult situations. The surgery is a very busy environment where you will need to deal with people who are ill, worried, and sometimes upset and confused. You always need to be able to remain calm and behave in a professional manner.
Working Hours: 30 or 37.5hrs
Working Week: Monday: 7.45am-3.45pm, Tuesday: 9am-5pm (or day off if working 30hrs per week), Wednesday: 7.45am-3.45pm, Thursday 10.45am-6.45pm, Friday 10.45am-6.45pm.
Interviews: Week commencing 1st November
Main duties of the job
The Reception role includes booking appointments, checking in patients, processing repeat prescriptions, answering telephone calls.
The Administration role includes general office duties covering a variety of jobs including scanning of patient letters and filing patient notes.
Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Practice Management Team, dependent on current and evolving practice workload.
A good level of literacy and keyboard skills are required, good communications skills and the ability to work as part of a busy team.
Full training will be provided.

when Dr William Newland came to Guildford.

first link with the St Luke's area was in 1838 when the doctors looked after
the patients in the Guildford Union Workhouse (which still exists today,
opposite the site of our current surgery).

surgery has a long tradition of participating in training our doctors of the
future and it is something that we are committed to in the long term.
