Shay Lane
Medical Centre are looking for a full or part time receptionist to join our friendly
and experienced team. Previous reception or customer service experience is
essential, and previous experience within a GP practice is desirable. Applicants
must be able to demonstrate excellent I.T. and communication skills with
an ability to pay attention to detail. They must be self-motivated and
adaptable to work within a changing NHS and to thrive with the demand of
working in a busy reception / administrative environment.
The practice is open 0800-1830, Monday-Friday and the candidate will be expected to be able to work both from 0800 or until 1830 at certain times and should be flexible regarding taking on additional
overtime where cover is required.
Main duties of the job
Assist patients
contacting the practice in person, by phone, text message, email and other
digital methods, to access the appropriate service or healthcare professional
in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Maintain a professional
and friendly approach to patients and visitors.
Respect the
privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of patients, carers and colleagues.
Use EMIS web
clinical system to book appointments and communicate with patients and
colleagues. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and security when
dealing with patient records.
Support the
practice to file and manage documentation and assist with responses to requests
for medical information and prescriptions.
Provide general
assistance to the whole practice team.
Offer chaperone
support for patients and clinical staff when necessary.

have five GPs, a nurse, a Healthcare Assistant and a team of dedicated
