Job summary

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Nursing Associate to join our clinical team. This is a great opportunity to work in a supportive general practice setting, where you will contribute to a wide range of clinical and health promotion activities, bridging the gap between healthcare support workers and registered nurses.

Main duties of the job

As a Nursing Associate, you will work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering safe, effective, and person-centred care to patients. Your duties will include supporting chronic disease management, performing clinical tasks such as wound care, venepuncture, and observations, and assisting with health checks, immunisations, and patient education. Bridging the gap between healthcare support workers and registered nurses, working within your scope of clinical practice and knowledge to promote health, prevent illness, and contribute to the overall efficiency and quality of care provided by the practice.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities But Not Limited To:

Provide care for patients in line with your scope of practice and NMC code

Undertake clinical tasks such as:

Blood pressure checks, ECGs, and pulse oximetry

Venepuncture (phlebotomy)

Wound care and dressings

Removal of sutures and clips

Supporting chronic disease management (e.g., asthma, diabetes)

Administering immunisations under PGDs (once competent)

Assist with NHS Health Checks and new patient assessments

Deliver patient education and promote self-care strategies

Maintain accurate patient records using EMIS

Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to support patient-centred care

Contribute to infection prevention and control and equipment maintenance

Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement activities

Adhere to safeguarding procedures, confidentiality, and data protection policies

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently within scope of practice

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a General Practice setting
  • Experience assisting in chronic disease clinics
  • Familiarity with QOF and primary care pathways

Qualifications

  • Registered with the NMC as a Nursing Associate
  • Nursing Associate Foundation Degree (Level 5)
  • Skilled in venepuncture and basic clinical tasks

Desirable

  • Working Knowledge of EMIS & Docman Clinical systems
  • Immunisation and/or cervical cytology trained
