Job summary

We are looking for a reliable and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our clinical team. You will play a key role in supporting our patients and clinicians by providing high-quality venepuncture services, working across both of our sites. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys patient interaction and values being part of a close-knit, high-performing team.

Main duties of the job

Working under the direct supervision of the Nursing team and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, you will be responsible for performing venipuncture to obtain blood samples from patients, and ensuring all samples are dispatched to the labortory in a timely fashion.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities But Not Limited To:

Undertake venepuncture for a wide range of routine and urgent blood tests, ensuring safe and hygienic technique

Label, package, and send samples to the laboratory in accordance with current protocols

Ensure patient identification checks and consent are carried out in line with policy

Maintain accurate documentation and update electronic patient records on EMIS

Manage appointments and prioritise urgent samples as directed by clinical staff

Observe and report any unusual symptoms or reactions during or after procedures

Ensure all equipment is clean, well-stocked, and maintained according to infection control standards

Provide reassurance and support to patients who are nervous or anxious about blood tests

Adhere to health and safety, confidentiality, and safeguarding protocols at all times

Participate in practice meetings, audits, and mandatory training as required

  • Previous experience in a general practice or primary care

  • Flexibility to work across both practice sites
