Job summary

We are seeking a proactive and confident Paramedic Practitioner to work autonomously within our clinical team, providing high quality assessments, clinical decision making, and management of a range of presentations. The role offers 4-6 sessions per week and you will play a key role in same day urgent care, acute presentations, home visits, and supporting the wider team with your advanced clinical skills.

This role is ideal for an experienced paramedic looking to develop further within a primary care environment, with access to ongoing support, CPD opportunities, and regular clinical supervision.

Main duties of the job

  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patients presenting with acute, urgent, and minor illness.
  • Provide home visits when required and support the surgerys sameday/urgent care workflow.
  • Triage patients appropriately, ensuring safe and effective prioritisation.
  • Use advanced clinical decision making skills to provide evidence based care.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, ANPs, pharmacists, nurses, and the wider MDT.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with practice policies.
  • Support patients in managing long term conditions (within scope of competence).
  • Escalate or refer to GPs or secondary care when required.
  • Contribute to practice audits, quality improvement, and service development.

About us

The Cambridge Practice was established in 2018 following the merger of Southlea Surgery and Victoria Surgery in Aldershot, and has been part of the Aldershot Primary Care Network since 2019.

We are a fully accredited NHS GP Training Practice, with a long history of supporting the education and development of future GPs. We provide a high quality training environment for GP registrars and a range of healthcare students, including nursing, advanced clinical practice, paramedic, and physician associate students. As a training practice, we are regularly reviewed to ensure high standards of patient care and efficient practice management.

Our main site is based within Aldershot Centre for Health, colocated with other healthcare providers, promoting collaborative working. We also operate a branch surgery located to the south of Aldershot, approximately three miles from the main site.

Clinical Assessment & First Point of Contact
  • Work alongside the wider multidisciplinary team as a firstcontact clinician for patients presenting with undiagnosed or undifferentiated conditions.
  • Use advanced skills in historytaking, physical examination, critical thinking and clinical decisionmaking to reach a safe working diagnosis and create an appropriate management plan.
  • Provide timely assessment, treatment and diagnosis for patients attending the Practice.
Clinical Autonomy & DecisionMaking
  • Make independent, accountable clinical decisions within scope of practice.
  • Determine when patients can be safely treated and discharged or when referral to other services is necessary.
  • Request diagnostic tests to support clinical judgement.
Prescribing & Medicines Management
  • Generate EPS or FP10 prescriptions within your professional boundaries and in line with local and national prescribing guidelines.
  • Apply evidencebased practice to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate medication decisions.
Professional Standards & Governance
  • Maintain high standards of clinical practice in accordance with HCPC, Department of Health and College of Paramedics guidance.
