Working Days: Monday, Thursday & Friday Sessional Rate: £11,084 Annual Leave: 6 weeks pro rata

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic GP to join our friendly and well-established training practice. We are proud to uphold the values of traditional family medicine while embracing innovation and education.

Were currently looking to welcome a Salaried GP for 6 sessions per week to support our growing list of approximately 6,300 patients. Whether youre newly qualified or an experienced GP, we offer a nurturing and supportive environment tailored to your professional development. An interest in medical education and training is desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job

Duties will typically involve

  • respond to patients' medical or health problems by referring to their history and carrying out diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and referral as appropriate
  • maintain confidentiality and impartiality
  • liaise with medical professionals in the community and hospitals
  • promote health education in conjunction with other health professionals
  • carry out a range of administrative work, including signing repeat prescriptions, death certificates and fitness for work statements, as well as preparing letters and reports
  • attend staff meetings
  • keep up to date with medical developments, new drugs, treatments and medications, including complementary medicine
  • observe and assess the work of trainee GPs and medical students

  • We are actively engaged in South Wrexham cluster work, collaborating with like-minded practices.
  • Our practice area is compact, with around five home visits per week, shared fairly among GPs and trainees.

Clinical Responsibilities:-

- In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.

- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

- In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

- Providing counselling and health education.

- Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.

- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

- Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QIF requirements.

- Delivering enhanced services.

- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
