Job summary

To provide and maintain a high standard of care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN and in addition any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.

We are looking for a committed person to providing excellent clinical care to our patients, who treats others with dignity and respect and has a can do attitude to their work.

Main duties of the job

  • Care and management of long term conditions
  • Offer a holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including; vaccinations and medicines, safe sex, food hygiene, sun protection.
  • Running well person clinics and health promotion programmes by providing a holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise. Facilitates change.
  • Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology smear tests.
  • Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines
  • Take ECGs
  • Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.
  • Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written).
  • Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained.
  • Confidentially of information gained at work must be preserved at all times.

Padiham Group Practice are looking for a GP Practice Nurse or Nurse Associate to enhance our team and help us further develop our philosophy of integrated multi-disciplinary working. We are a friendly practice serving Padiham and Burnley. Our list size is approximately 13000 patients. Our clinical team already comprises Partners, Salaried Doctors, ANPs, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistant.

Padiham Group Practice is situated in the heart of Padiham, providing General Practice and enhanced services to the residents of Padiham, Burnley and the surrounding areas.

Padiham Group Practice is a friendly and supportive practice with a team of dedicated Doctors, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Health Care Assistants and Administration staff, who all strive to provide the best possible service to our patient population.
