Scarborough Medical Group is a successful and highly regarded GP training
practice based in the beautiful coastal town of Scarborough on the North
Yorkshire Coast. Due to retirement we are seeking to recruit a salaried GP to join our friendly team.
With a patient list size of 16,000 patients, Scarborough Medical Group operates from two surgeries to the North and South of the town, with easy access to beaches, moorlands and forests. Our location will support individuals who enjoy an active and outdoor lifestyle in their free time.
We are part of a strong, collaborative Primary Care Network
and enjoy good working relationships with colleagues in the other Practices as

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work alongside our allied healthcare professionals and multi disciplinary teams to provide general medical services to patients with a truly diverse range of healthcare needs.

first contact physios, mental health practitioners. We enjoy full nursing team support
including advanced clinical practitioners, nurse practitioners, specialist

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Provide a full range of medical services as
defined in the core GMS contract and additional enhanced services where
appropriate
·
In accordance with the Practice timetable, as
agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety
of duties including face to face consultations, telephone/online consultations
and queries, visiting patients at home, dealing with queries, paperwork and
correspondence in a timely fashion
·
To record clear and contemporaneous electronic
consultation notes to agreed standards using SystmOne
·
Making professional, autonomous decisions in
relation to presenting problems, whether self- referred or referred from other
health care workers within the organisation
·
Supporting the training aspect of the Practice by assisting with debriefs and supervision for trainees at various stages in
their medical careers
·
Assessing the health care needs of patients with
undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
·
Screening patients for disease risk factors and
early signs of illness
·
In consultation with patients and in line with
current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
·
Admitting or discharging patients to and from
the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
·
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute
and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand- written prescriptions whenever possible)
·
Prescribing in accordance with the Practice
prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
·
In general the post-holder will be expected to
undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP
working within primary care.
