Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a
Physician Associate to join our team of Allied Healthcare Professionals including
Practice Nurses, First Contact Physiotherapist, Pharmacists and Health Care
Assistants.
We are excited about what a Physician Associate can
bring to our practice. Several of our clinicians come from scientific
backgrounds and we value the benefits on clinical reasoning. We also value medical model training which we believe makes Physician Associates very suited
to working in Primary Care.
We welcome applications from Physician Associates
at all stages of their career including newly qualified practitioners. Several of our clinicians came to us as trainees and have developed and continue to work with us many years later.
We are vastly experienced in bringing Allied Health Professionals
into new roles in Primary Care and we will support you in developing your
confidence and competence leading to autonomous practice.
We provide a comprehensive 2 week
induction period prior to any clinical work to introduce you to all aspects of Primary
Care and give you the opportunity to meet and shadow colleagues. We provide full support with preceptorship and CPD requirements of Physician
Associates.
On 1st October we are implementing Klinik, a sophisticated online AI tool which will provide
detailed information on patients' presentations allowing us to
carefully navigate the most appropriate patients into your appointments.
Main duties of the job
The
Physician Associate will independently assess, diagnose and
manage patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, coordinating with
other primary and secondary healthcare services as appropriate. There is an
expectation that the Physician Associate will attend to patients within the
practice and at their own homes and will co-ordinate care with other members of
the organisation team and external providers.
About us
We are close to Bristol City Centre, and within walking distance of Bristol Harbourside and Temple Meads train station.
Staff turnover is low and we are a thriving training practice with three forward-thinking GP Partners, who work closely with eight salaried GPs, two Advanced Nurse Practitioners, two Clinical Pharmacists, a Pharmacist Technician, First Contact Physiotherapist, an experienced nursing team, a Mental Health Worker, a Social Prescribing Link Worker and a Health and Wellbeing Coach. We also have a committed non-clinical team.
Operating from purpose-built spacious premises, we also have host local services including midwives, Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) and Bristol Drug Project.
Our patient list size is 12,500 patients, with a mixed patient demographic.
We are keen to embrace new and collaborative ways of working in which to better deliver patient-centred care in our community.
The practice is part of Swift Primary Care Network (PCN), made up of eight local GP practices, with a total patient population of 76,000. We work together with the aim of improving health care for the community and reducing health inequalities.
Our CQC rating is Good.
