Job summary

We are looking for 2 Part-time Receptionists to join our dedicated reception team on a permanent basis. The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with general public in a fast paced environment. You need to be able to work as part of a well establish and close team but use your own initiative where required and within the remit of your role. Exceptional communications skills, both face to face and over the phone are a must as is ability to remain calm under pressure.

Post 1- 32 hrs a week, hours of work as follows:

M: 8.00-14.00

T:12.00-18.30

W: 13.00-18.30

Th: 8.00-16.00

F: 12.00-18.30

Post 2- 34.5 hrs a week, hours of work as follows:

M: 10.00-18.30

T: 12.00-18.30

W: 8.00-16.00

Th: 8.00-14.00

Fri: 12.00-18.30

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the role is to:

Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way

Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the busy reception.

The specific requirements for this role are as follow:

The successful applicant will be part of a rota to cover occasional short weekend sessions in addition to normal hours as well as late finish during the week, therefore flexibility is a must.

Ability to cover annual leave and a sick leave (at short notice at times)

Ability to work variety of shift including early starts from 7.30 am as well as late finish.

Flexibility to cover additional shifts when required, often at short notice.

This post(s) will be based across all 3 sites and therefore driving license and access to own car is essential.

Previous GP reception or/and administration experience would be an advantage, however full training will be given to the right candidate.

Serving a patient population of c15,000 in a modern purpose-built premises in the heart of Ilkeston, Derbyshire, the surgery has an on-site pharmacy unit and 2 branch surgeries in the neighbouring areas of Cotmanhay and Kirk Hallam.

We are a team of 7 partners and 6 salaried GP's supported by excellent team of ANPs and Practice Nurses, Senior Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician and well established administrative team.

We use SystmOne and are a Training Practice attached to Nottingham University teaching both graduate students and Derby GP specialist registrars.

We continually look for new and innovative ways of working and this is exiting time to be joining us as we enter into early stages of our succession planning.
