COVID-19 Vaccination Clinical Assessor & Vaccinator (RHCP)

West Northumberland Primary Care Network are looking for registered healthcare professionals who are willing to participate in the COVID-19 vaccine booster programme at our vaccination centre in Hexham (usual venue Hexham Mart), as well as supporting our Roving Teams into West Northumberland Care Homes, pop-up clinics and homes of our housebound patients.

Responsible to: Covid Vaccination Site Manager

Accountable to: PCN Operations Manager

Hours of work: Zero Hours contract, temporary contract (dates to be confirmed)

Location: Hexham Mart, Care Homes, pop-up clinics, homes of housebound - across West Northumberland

Salary: £18.90 / hour

Working Pattern: Mostly weekdays, some weekends may be available.

Job Summary:

As a Registered Healthcare Professional, you will work in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver booster vaccinations and be responsible for the following:

  • Conducting clinical assessments prior to vaccination.
  • Determining clinical suitability for vaccination to go ahead
  • Confirm patient consent and record these details
  • Preparing the vaccine prior to administration by using aseptic technique.
  • Dilution and drawing up of the vaccine from multi-dose vials.
  • Setting up the vaccination station.
  • Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to policies and procedures.

Ensure correct infection control and implementation

  • Administering the vaccine safely to patients
  • Support set up and shut down of the site

  • Current Registered Health Care Professional e.g. NMC for nurses, GPhC for pharmacists, HCPC, GDC or equivalent for other healthcare professionals.
  • Immunisation training
  • Completion of Core knowledge for COVID-19 Vaccinators online training or willingness to complete

  • Ability to use computer software to record activity/clinical assessment
  • Knowledge of the Covid Vaccinations requirements and Green Book
  • Understanding of Patient Confidentiality, Data Protection and GDPR
  • Effective skills in communicating complex and sensitive information and in difficult situations, requiring empathy, reassurance, persuasion and influence
  • Able to work on own initiative, organising and prioritising workload to meet demand and tight deadlines
  • Flexible approach to working days
