ROLE DESCRIPTION

This is an opportunity to work part-time in a small friendly GP Practice and build on your current experience.

Our established and dedicated nursing team would very much welcome the opportunity to work alongside a hard-working experienced Practice nurse who is extremely passionate about Primary Care. Alternatively, if you are wishing to become a Practice Nurse and you are willing to take part in the Practice Nurse programme we would be willing to train you.

Whilst it is a busy and challenging role, it is very varied and interesting. There are many training opportunities, and this is encouraged by the GP partners as well as our Practice Manager. We are looking forward to working alongside a nurse who strives as we do, to provide high standards of patient care.

  • To be competent in anaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques

Clinical Leadership

  • Contributes to the development, monitoring, and evaluation of care delivery by the primary healthcare team

Partakes in clinical supervision for own development

Actively participates in clinical and practice meetings

Develops own knowledge and practice to meet objectives/changes in service

Collaborate effectively with a range of other health care professionals and agencies who may be involved in patients interdependent care

Knowledge of resource management to ensure care is clinically effective and signposted to the patient and family; ensuring principles of confidentiality and disclosure are maintained

Contributes to practice policy development, as required

Make effective use of the IT system by ensuring the consistent and accurate entering of data and use of Ardens templates

Contribute to a system of call and recall of patients

Logging and dispatching hospital specimens.

Ensure stock items are ordered and provided in consulting and treatment rooms, including emergency equipment

Maintain clinical equipment satisfactorily, ensuring regular checks undertaken

About us

We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse ideally who has managed patients with diabetes and or asthma/COPD. However, depending on other relevant skills the applicant has, we are willing to train and mentor an applicant through the Practice Nurse programme.

Bere Regis Surgery is at the heart of a small rural village, which is about 20 minutes drive to Poole Blandford Dorchester and Weymouth.

We have 3,900 patients and are members of Purbeck Primary Care Network.

We are a dispensing Practice and GP training Practice.A smaller Practice brings many advantages, and our nursing team give good continuity of care and we are able to know our patients well. The nursing team can visit our patients who are housebound patients which is important for chronic disease monitoring and frailty assessments. Our aim as a team is to provide the same level of care to housebound patients as to those who can attend the surgery.

You will be part of the team of four;lead Practice nurse and two experienced health care assistants. You will work with two GP partners, a salaried GP and GP registrar.We have a Practice Manager, a dispensary team and admin/reception team. We link with the community nursing team and PCN staff. There is a PCN diabetes specialist nurse and respiratory nurse who work closely with our Practice nurses and runs joint clinics for a nurse who requires training.

In the most recent GP survey we were very pleased that 93% of patients scored the overall service we provided as good.
