Longshore Surgeries are looking to recruit a salaried GP for between 4-8 sessions (negotiable)

13 appointments per session

Main duties of the job

Clinical Responsibilities

In line with the agreed practice timetable, the post holder will be responsible for a wide range of duties including conducting surgery consultations (face to face and over the telephone) home visits, managing queries, prescription management, documentation and correspondence.

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities include

Making autonomous professional decisions regarding presenting problems

Assessing the healthcare needs of patients both undiagnosed and complex presentations

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early indicators of illness

Creating care plans in consultations with patients aligned with disease management protocols

Providing counselling and health education

Admitting or discharging patients to other care providers as needed

Maintaining accurate and timely consultation notes

Referring patients to third party services

Gathering data for audit and quality improvement purposes

Issuing computer generated prescriptions, prescribing in accordance with the practices prescribing formulary

Allocation of On-Calls sessions

Undertaking all routine duties and responsilibities expected of a GP working in primary care.

  • Knowledge of current guidelines
  • Commitment to delivering a high standard of patient centred care
  • Commitment to continuity of care
  • UK driving licence and car owner
  • UK work permit (if required)
  • MPS/MDU/MDDUS membership

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified GP, eligible to practice in the UK with GMC registration on the Medical Performers List
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Desirable

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management being able to prioritise work and work under pressure Organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork
  • Clinical Governance
  • Work with partners and practice team towards the delivery of QoF targets and other practice objectives/targets
  • Organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork
