Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking cleaner to provide NHS standard cleaning to our surgery. It is a part time role with flexibility to work additional hours to cover holidays and sickness. You will work with a supportive, experienced and friendly team. High standards of cleaning are required to meet NHS Cleanliness Specifications and infection control guidelines providing a clean, bright environment to service users. This role is based at our main site however cover may be required at any of our 3 sites. Pay meets national minimum wage. Hours are 4-8pm Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

Cleaning of all rooms and communal areas of the building to NHS cleanliness standards.

Working within an established team to ensure Infection control standards are maintained.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The core responsibilities of the cleaning staff are to ensure the premises achieve and maintain the national specifications for cleanliness in the NHS including but not limited to the following:

a. Ensure where applicable areas are:

· Vacuumed

· Damp mopped

· Damp dusted

· Glass and mirrors cleaned

· Tiled areas washed

· Painted surfaces cleaned

b. Safely empty and subsequently clean clinical and general waste bins, ensuring waste is placed in the appropriate receptacle

c. Adhere to the periodic cleaning schedule, ensuring all activities are completed

d. Use cleaning equipment in a safe and effective manner, adhering to manufacturer’s instructions and NHS Healthcare Manual.

e. Replenish all consumable items (hand towels, toilet roll etc.) as required

f. Adhere to the colour coding system for cleaning equipment at all times, seeking appropriate guidance if required

g. Ensure all cleaning materials are stored in a safe and secure manner, adhering to COSHH, H&S and other legislative acts and guidance

h. As required, undertake legionella flushing of systems within the practice

i. Report any faulty equipment to line management in a timely manner
