Job summary

Vine Medical Group is recruiting for a full or part time Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team. We are based in Waterlooville, with a list size of 26,500 and keen to welcome another GP to our team.

Our GPs undertake on average 13 x 15-minute facing-patient appointments a session, plus 3 admin slots in order to deliver the best and safest service we can to our patients. Our salaried GPs have their own patient list once induction / familiarisation phase has been completed.

We have both face-to-face and on-line clinics, as well as home visits, same day care and routine appointments. Our GPs have admin time structured into the working day. Our same day care is run via a structured triage service managed by our care navigators with a GP Lead and ably supported by Paramedics, Nurses, and HCAs, as well as a Medicine Management Team lead by clinical pharmacists.

As a training practice we are always interested in supporting GPs with any special interests. Newly qualified GPs are offered bespoke support and mentorship, regular whole practice training sessions and peer review opportunities.

Main duties of the job

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

To see patients in accordance with the practice timetable, including consultations, visiting patients at home, as well as an equitable share of same day care and extended access appointments.

To be able to work and travel between any of our sites and visit patients out in the community

To proportionately participate in the delivery of Enhanced Access hours.

We are an EMIS Web surgery with ARDENs templates, use AccuRx, as well as being innovative with our AI-based online consultation system and other efficiency-enhancing technology.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract, additional and enhanced services where appropriate
  • To see patients in accordance with the practice timetable, including consultations (in whatever format) and queries, visiting patients at home (including care and nursing homes), as well as an equitable share of same day care and extended access appointments. Checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes in a timely manner to agreed standards
  • Accurate recording of care provision onto patient records ensuring correct coding of all procedures and information using approved methods and templates
  • Collecting data for audit purposes and supporting QOF requirements and data completion
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions utilising EPS
